Our Pastor

Pastor Peter Heyn has served as pastor and missionary in San Angelo since his installation on June 2, 2019. He was born in Milwaukee, WI,  but as a pastor’s son, lived in a number of different cities growing up including Willoughby, OH; El Paso, TX; Appleton, WI; and  Madison, WI. He was also exposed to foreign mission work and his cultural experiences were broadened as his father served in Bogotá, Colombia for two and a half years.

In 2004, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, double majoring in history and secondary education (social studies emphasis).  He then took two years of Classical Greek and Biblical Hebrew at  UW-Madison, after which he studied at Bethany Lutheran Theological  Seminary in Mankato, MN. He graduated with a Master of Divinity in  2012. His final year was spent serving the Lord as a vicar (intern) at a dual parish in Sonoma County, California. Upon completion of his vicarage, he served a temporary situation caring for the flock of Our Redeemer Lutheran in Brisbane, QLD, Australia for two months before flying back to the States where he was ordained at Peace Lutheran Church of Lakeland, FL on August 26, 2012. Since his ordination, Pastor Heyn has served as the pastor of Peace Lutheran  Church in Lakeland, FL (2012-2015) and Peace Lutheran in Deshler, Ohio  (2015-2019). In addition to serving as home missionary and pastor at Living Water, Pastor Heyn also currently serves on the Evangelical Lutheran Synod’s Board on Apologetics.

It was in Lakeland that Pastor met his lovely wife Andrea. They were married in 2014 and have been blessed with three beautiful daughters and a son:  Ellie, Emma, Clara, and Caleb.

Pastor enjoys hanging out with his family, as well as running (amongst other outdoor sports), music (listening and playing), and cheering on the local Angelo State Rams, as well as his WI sports teams: the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers.

He and his family consider it a privilege to serve at Living Water and to share its message of forgiveness and salvation with the people of  San Angelo.
